General Information

Pelican Bay is a gated community located on beautiful Galveston Bay and offers a multitude of outdoor receational opportunities throughout the year.  This is a unique place to live with an easy drive of 35 minutes to either Galveston or Houston.

Roads are private and residents have access to a community pool and a 200' pier available for fishing or just enjoying the view of the sunrise, dolphins and, of course, pelicans.

The City of La Porte offers a golf course, wave pool, museums, parks, skate park, hike and bike trails for bird watching and the newly developed Sylvan Beach area, all within a five-minute drive.  The San Jacinto Battleground State Park and Kemah are within ten minutes and the Houston Yacht Club is seen from the shoreline.

Pelican Bay was developed as Woods on the Bay in 1983.  The 32 patio homes and 39 townhomes are located on 12.7 acres in Harris County, City of La Porte.

La Porte was established in 1882 as a resort town on Galveston Bay.  Visitors drove or rode an excursion train from Houston to La Porte to visit Sylvan Beach, the "playground of the South."  Famous orchestras and film stars provided entertainment throughout the summers until 1930.  The original depot has been restored as a museum with memorabilia from Sylan Beach, the Pavilion, railroads and artifacts from La Porte's early history.
